There were some surprising results and upsets following the results of the primaries.
Madeline Singas easily won the Democratic primary for Nassau District Attorney.
The acting DA had 72 percent of the vote compared to Michael Scotto who had 27 percent.
Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter lost his primary battle against Councilwoman Jodi Giglio.
Giglio had the endorsement of the Republican Party and defeated Walter with 51 percent of the vote.
In Glen Cove, Republican Mayor Reginald Spinello soundly defeated challenger Anthony Gallo Jr. with 57 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, Thomas Licari defeated former Suffolk Legislator Richardo Montano to run as a Democrat against Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
