Children played lacrosse to raise money for veterans in the 24-hour Shootout for Soldiers tournament.
The seventh annual event wrapped up Friday at the Field of Dreams in Massapequa.
One of the organizers, Mike Nelson, says it’s important to have child connecting with veterans and find out what’s going on in their lives and what they deal with.
“We do this, not just for the fundraising, but to connection youth with veterans’ issues,” Nelson says. “It connects our local youth lacrosse players with that and gives them a reason to fundraise.”
