A Shirley woman who has endured hundreds of medical procedures is now in need of a kidney donation after being diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure.

Diana Perez-Miller, 51, has had 150 operations, two intestinal transplants and more than 300 blood transfusions. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes and needs a kidney to survive.

“I'm just hoping and praying that we can find somebody,” she told News 12. “I've been through so much. I've suffered for so long and fought so hard to be here not to just have my kidneys to take me out."

The wife and mother of three must take a dozen pills four times a day for her ailments. Through it all, she has a positive outlook on life.

“She's the best. The first day I met her I fell in love with her,” says her husband Robert. “It's been hard. We'll get through it, just another bump in the road. That's how we look at it.”

The family hopes Perez-Miller’s story will help her get a kidney and spread awareness about the importance of organ donation.

“There's a lot of good people in this world. A lot of selfless people and I'm just hoping this reaches that right person,” she says.

She has joined thousands of others on a kidney transplant waiting list at Mount Sinai Hospital.
