Services planned for FDNY firefighter from LI who died after responding to fire

A wake will be held for Jesse Gerhard at Chapey and Sons Funeral Home in East Islip from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Services will begin Tuesday for the FDNY firefighter from Long Island who died suddenly after responding to a fire.
A wake will be held for Jesse Gerhard at Chapey and Sons Funeral Home in East Islip from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Gerhard's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at St. Patrick's in Bay Shore.
Gerhard died just one day after responding to a two-alarm fire in Far Rockaway.
He was a seven-year veteran with the FDNY, and also volunteered in Islip.
