A thousand people demonstrated Saturday at the Ground Zero site, demanding the federal government take an interest in the health care of 9/11 workers. In the last year, three 9/11 responders have died. Earlier this year, a New Jersey medical examiner declared that the death of a New York City police detective was directly related to 9/11. Friday the state passed a bill that allows workers to file what is called protective claims. That means for the next 18 months workers can sign up to protect their right to file a claim. But union chiefs say it?s simply not enough time. Health officials say it may actually take another two decades before doctors know the true effects on those exposed to the airborne remains of the twin towers.
