(AP) - The New York Senate is returning for aspecial session ordered by Gov. David Paterson to end the two-weeklegislative stalemate in the chamber. But who will be in chargeremains in doubt.
Paterson's agenda calls for action on continuing issues likebonding, municipal taxes and mayoral control of New York Cityschools.
While a Republican-led faction and the Democratic conference arestill discussing a possible power-sharing arrangement, Republicansplan to gather an hour before the scheduled session Monday and takethe gavel.
Democrats, who held a 32-30 majority most of this year, havebeen boycotting sessions when their opponents - a dissidentDemocrat and 30 Republicans - claimed to be in charge.
The Assembly has already adjourned after passing hundreds ofbills.
