State leaders are demanding that the federal government give more resources to protect swimmers from sharks along Long Island shores.
This comes after recent shark attacks on Long Island - particularly on the South Shore.
Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to deploy shark monitoring and detection to Long Island shores.
Some of the equipment would include sensors, specific buoys and non-lethal geo-tagging or other technology to prevent shark attacks.
