It's the end of an era for Bronx shoppers as a longtime department store will close this fall.
Sears announced that it will shutter its last location in the borough, located right next to the Fordham train stop at 404 East Fordham Road, in late November.
The store has 91 employees, who will all be out of a job by December. However, eligible associates will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Sears or Kmart shops.
A spokesperson says that store closures are part of a series of actions that the chain is taking in order to reduce loss of revenue and cover ongoing expenses.
The store will begin its liquidation sale on Sept. 25.
