Friends and relatives are continuing efforts to find the young man still missing after last week's small plane crash in Setauket Harbor.
Queens resident Gerson Salmon-Negron, 23, was not found after the single-engine Piper PA-28 went down last Saturday. Three others aboard the plane were rescued.
Loved ones and fraternity brothers gathered today at the Port Jefferson Marina to organize search efforts. They spread out to search the shoreline and marshy areas.
Darcy Salmon, sister of the missing man, told News 12 that the family is grateful for support as the search continues, but she pleaded for help. "He deserves to come home back to us, some way, somehow," she said.
Salmon was told by the survivors that Gerson, who happened to be an excellent swimmer, rescued his friends first. She says his body temperature must have dropped and hypothermia may have set in.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
