A Seaford man has been accused of sharing sexually explicit images of more than a dozen underage girls and posting them to a pornographic website.
Prosecutors say all of the women, and 20-year-old suspect Patrick Carey, attended MacArthur High School in Levittown and are now in college.
Some people reported to police that they have received notifications from social media that Carey had screenshotted some of the images from their personal sites.
Assistant Nassau District Attorney Melissa Scanell says these images were of the young women cheerleading or smiling at the beach.
Scanell says Carey altered photos of the girls to make it look like they were engaging in sexual conduct before putting them on the website. She says he also shared their personal information, including their home addresses and encouraged site visitors to harass and threaten the women with sexual violence.
"Many of the victims did in fact experience that," Scanell says. "They receive very sexually explicit voicemails or private messages from strangers."
She says he put a lot of women in "extreme danger."
Prosecutors say they believe there may be over 50 victims.
Anyone who believes they are a victim is urged to call the Nassau District Attorney's Office at 516-571-2553.
Carey is being held on $50,000 bail.
