It was back to school this morning for students in 47 school districts across Long Island.
Students were welcomed back with high fives, a DJ, dancing teachers, their school mascot and a huge pet iguana at Westbury Middle School.
“That’s how we do it in Westbury,” said Principal Fernando Agramonte. “We love our kids. We pour our hearts into them every day. We’re excited about the first day of school.”
News 12 also saw Nassau police on campus after police officials said there would be an added presence on the first day of school.
