Scattered showers, storms expected to impact evening commute
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to developing across Long Island this evening and last through early Thursday.
News 12 meteorologists say the chance for the strongest storms will be between 6 p.m. and midnight. There could be an overnight storm into Thursday, with a secondary wave of unsettled weather.
There's the potential for torrential downpours and damaging winds and hail.
Winds will be around 10 to 20 mph with highs near 77 degrees for the rest of the day. It will remain warm and muggy throughout the night with lows near 65 degrees.
For Thursday, expect breaks of sunshine with warm and humid conditions. A spotty shower and storm is possible. Highs will be between 77 to 83 degrees.
