Families rallied in Sayville to call for a reversal of a decision to delay some fall sports.
Protesters say sports aren't just about recreation, but they help children grow physically, mentally and socially.
They also say that sports give many student athletes the opportunity to get a scholarship to go to college.
"The importance of the children playing can't be overemphasized," says Carol Kolar. "The transmission rate is so low at this point that there's no rational thought process from preventing Section 11 from letting the kids play."
The rally was the latest of several held across Long Island this week.
