A Lindenhurst family devastated by Superstorm Sandy spent their third consecutive Thanksgiving without the comfort of their home.
Craig Scaturro, his wife and their two children, one of whom is severely autistic, had all of their belongings destroyed in the Oct. 2012 storm. Since then, the family has raised their home and made necessary repairs. Insurance paid for some items, but they are still waiting on more than $100,000 in New York Rising funds.
In the meantime, they are living in a trailer in their front yard.
"For me and my wife, it's OK. I mean we're dealing with it. It's harder on the kids," Scaturro told News 12.
The Scaturros say they spent the holiday with relatives and hope they will be able to get their home finished sooner rather than later.
