Police have arrested a 66-year-old Rocky Point man for allegedly driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a head-on car crash that killed another man.
The accident happened Saturday afternoon in Wading River, police say.
Suffolk County police say Michael Koss was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Route 25A when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a Honda Civic.
The driver of the Honda, 61-year-old Edward Carr, and his 58-year-old passenger, Ilene Wasserman, were airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where Carr was pronounced dead.
Wasserman is in critical condition.
"Michael Koss, of Rocky Point, was traveling westbound on [Route] 25A just west of Gateway Drive in Wading River," says Seventh Squad Detective Sgt. James McGuinness. "He crossed over into oncoming traffic when he struck a car operated by a Mr. Edward Carr, of Setauket."
Koss and his two passengers, Serena Koss and Mary Lynch, were also taken to Stony Brook, where they are in serious condition.
Police charged Koss with DWI. He will be arraigned at a later date.
