We're on track for summer fun on "Road Trip: Close to Home" as we visit the Long Island Live Steamers.
The nonprofit club has been in operation since 1966, and is back open after being closed last year.
The club has about a half-mile of ground line miniature track. When you visit the outdoors tracks at Southaven County Park in Yaphank, you'll learn railroad history and about the fine art of precision steam model making.
You can ride on working scale models of a classic Long Island Rail Road diesel train, a steam locomotive, and more. And tickets are free!
They are scheduled to be open to the public the second and last Sundays of each month through the end of October.
