News 12 takes a walking tour of what the Bronx's Norwood neighborhood has to offer for locals and tourists.
From large parks to its deep history, Bronx County Historical Society education director Roger McCormack says he loves sharing while taking people through one of the Bronx's most history-making neighborhoods.
That tour starts with the Valentine Variant House, the second oldest house in the Bronx - built in 1758.
At the Museum of Bronx History, visitors can witness the change over time of the Bronx during the Revolution, the influence of Hispanic culture on life in the Bronx and more.
The Mosholu Parkway was built originally to connect the borough's green spaces and parks. The name Mosholu comes from a Native American term meaning "smooth stones."
Marian Avenue follows a pattern of most of the streets in which they're named after heroes from the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.
The tours are great for schools or summer camps, but they're open to everyone. Those interested can contact McCormack at education@BronxHistoricaSociety.org for scheduling.
