The snow cleanup continued Friday throughout Long Island, one day after Thursday’s blizzard.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said the major roads are in good condition, but many of the secondary roads and local roads will likely be a problem for drivers throughout the weekend. Bellone also said the biggest problem for road crews is the extremely cold weather.

“The great challenge for us is that we will be out there, in full force today and likely overnight as well, hitting the streets hard with salt and sand, but also at these extreme low temperatures it’s difficult to get those roads down to asphalt,” said Bellone.
Bellone said drivers should use extreme caution this weekend while driving on secondary and local roads. He also asked residents to continue avoiding unnecessary travel.
