Riverhead police: Man drove into 2 police vehicles, faces DWI charges

The two marked police vehicles were on Roanoke Avenue at around 10 p.m. for a “call for service” at the time.

A 28-year-old Riverhead man struck two police cars Saturday night while under the influence of alcohol, Riverhead police say.

The two marked police vehicles were on Roanoke Avenue at around 10 p.m. for a “call for service” at the time.

The officers had their emergency light bar activated and the cars were unoccupied at the time. Neither police officer was injured.

They arrested Jason Velasquez for DWI and other traffic law violations.
