yesterdayA Riverhead man who confessed to killed a 25-year-old over a fanny pack was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison.
The incident happened in 2021 in the woods behind Middle Country Road in Coram.
Prosecutors say Marcus Reid fatally shot Branzel Bonner because he refused to hand over his bag. They say Reid then took the money that was inside the fanny pack.
Reid was found after leaving his debit card at the scene, according to court documents.
