More than 100 people gathered at the Bayit Hebrew Institute of Riverdale to reflect on the Oct. 7 attacks that took place one year ago in Israel.
Approximately 1,200 people were killed on that day.
The commemoration comes during the Jewish High Holy Days.
The Riverdale community members said they will take this time to solemnly reflect and hope for change through the power of prayer.
"We're praying not just for our own selves, but for our families, our community, and by extension, of course, our brothers and sisters in Israel as well," said Rabbi Lehrfield.
Community members said they will continue to pray for peace.
