The Greater Norwalk Chamber brought together business owners, local leaders and community partners this Wednesday for its 2026 Small Business Awards breakfast at the Norwalk Inn and Conference Center.

The event featured an economic update from the state comptroller, who spoke about efforts to make Connecticut more affordable and the challenges small business owners continue to face. He also shared personal reflections about watching his mother run a small business and the obstacles she encountered.

"Growing up I saw my mom struggle over and over and over again with things that people struggle with today," Scanlon said. "The more that we can do to try to remove those barriers from the small business owners of Connecticut today, the better we can do for our economy."

The Chamber presented its Professional Service Award to Norwalk Bank and Trust, recognizing the company for its commitment to the community and its customers.

Chamber leaders say the annual breakfast is part of their ongoing effort to support and celebrate the region's small business community.
