The Suffolk SPCA is looking for the person who threw a kitten out of a moving car on the Northern State Parkway.
Officials say the incident happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday between exits 40 and 41 on the parkway.
A caller told the SPCA the kitten was thrown from a white vehicle traveling around 70 mph. A $3,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
The caller said they saw the black and white kitten roll over to the side of the road into the grass. The cat was not hit by any cars.
"We need to apprehend this person for doing such a heinous act of cruelty," says SPCA Chief Roy Gross. "I just can't even imagine, it's unimaginable that somebody could do something like this to an innocent animal."
The SPCA is also looking for the kitten.
