Some residents spent Thanksgiving Day helping those less fortunate.

Volunteers fed about 150 residents at the Lighthouse Mission in Bellport.

Even though many people volunteered for the Thanksgiving Day feast, the mission wants to remind residents that feeding the hungry isn't just a challenge one day of the year. They say there are thousands of residents who go hungry every day.

"Sadly, the need on Long Island is going up rapidly," says Pastor Jim Ryan. "Right now, a little more than 3,200 people each and every week get food from God through the Lighthouse Mission at our daily street outreach."

The Lighthouse Mission adds that it always needs volunteers and donations for its food pantry.
