Republicans are suing Gov. Kathy Hochul over a bill she signed allowing voting by mail during the 90 day early voting period.
State Republicans claim the bill is unconstitutional and they are trying to block it before it goes into effect in January.
The bill changes the laws that have stood in the past, allowing mail-in voting only under specific circumstances.
The new law does not require an excuse for mail-in voting.
The state also set the presidential primary election date for April 2.
Plus, poll workers will have access to training programs, and it will be required for voters registration information to be provided to people being released from local jails.
