There is a change in power in the state Senate's 8th District after a closely contested Long Island race.
Republican Michael Venditto conceded his race to challenger, Democrat John Brooks, after a full count of all the ballots.
As News 12 previously reported, the candidates were separated by just 33 votes.
Brooks will now be just the second Democratic state senator representing Long Island.
