Some Long Island Rail Road employees make more than $300,000 a year, according to a newly released report.
The report conducted by the Empire Center for New York State Policy says that 136 employees made more than $200,000 last year. That number is up from the 130 employees who topped the $200,000 mark in 2014. They include an engineer and a track foreman.
The top four earners pulled in more than $300,000 a year. Most of the six-figure workers, the report says, reached the benchmark through overtime, which equates to about $20,000 a year for the average LIRR employee.
The report also says the huge checks are in part due to new contract agreements reached in 2014 that included retroactive pay.
The LIRR declined to comment on the report.
