Officials are releasing new information about the police shooting that occurred in Deer Park.

As News 12 has reported, officers shot and wounded Eric Bohlsen at his apartment complex on Wednesday.

Police said Bohlsen had a kitchen knife and was threatening to harm his father.

Newsday reports Suffolk police say officers were aware Bohlsen may have dropped the knife before they shot him.

However, police say officers thought he still had the knife because he made a slashing motion before they fired.
