A new report says hands-free technologies lead to distracted driving.

A study by AAA found that drivers are at a safety risk if their minds are distracted, even if their hands are on the wheel.

AAA measured brain waves and eye movements during various tasks that people engage in when they're in the car.

Listening to the radio is ranked as a category one level of distraction, or a minimal risk. Talking on the phone, both handheld and hands-free, resulted in a category two, or moderate, risk. Listening and responding to in-vehicle, voice-activated email features upped the ranking to a category three, extensive risk.
