Rep. Suozzi and challenger LiPetri face off in heated News 12 debate
The two candidates are battling for Congressional District 3, which could determine the balance of power in the House.
News 12 held a debate between Rep. Tom Suozzi and challenger Mike LiPetri on Tuesday.
The two candidates are battling for Congressional District 3, which could determine the balance of power in the House.
The candidates know each other well - they were in a tight race for the same district back in 2024.
In their second time facing off against one another, the match-up got heated.
There were plenty of attacks that went back and forth between Democrat Suozzi and Republican challenger LiPetri.
LiPetri repeatedly accused Suozzi of making millions of dollars while trading stocks in Congress.
He also claimed Suozzi follows orders from Democrat party leaders, instead of listening to his constituents.
Suozzi responded by saying he is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress and called LiPetri "100% MAGA"
LiPetri was repeatedly challenged by Suozzi to say how he disagrees with the Trump administration.
When it came to the president buying diesel fuel from Russia, LiPetri said he disagreed.
