Rep. Peter King spoke with News 12 about Monday's airstrikes in Syria against Islamic State targets.
Rep. King (R - Seaford) has complained that President Barack Obama was too slow to react to ISIS. Tuesday, he said he supports the U.S. airstrikes in Syria and believes the bombings will help make it safer on American soil.
"If they are on the defense over there, it makes it a little more difficult for them to attack us here," said Rep. King.
The congressman has been warning about the domestic threat ISIS poses and says there is also concern over the number of Americans who have gone to Syria to support terrorist groups. He expects the fight against Islamic terrorists to take years.
Rep. King says the U.S. must continue to devastate Islamic terrorists and all options must be considered in the fight.
