Family members and neighbors in Brentwood say a boy drowned in a backyard pool Monday evening.

Police would not give News 12 Long Island any official information. Neighbors say kids were playing in the pool at the Broadway home at around 5 or 5:30 p.m. when one of the neighborhood boys somehow got into the deep end.

Some say the victim, said to be 11 or 12 years old, jumped into the pool, but others say he fell in. He did not come back up above the water, witnesses say. Adults nearby leapt into action and delivered CPR to no avail.
