Family members of Long Islanders who were killed in the September 11th terrorist attacks remembered their loved ones at an intimate ceremony at Farmingdale State University Saturday.
The names of the 453 Long Islanders were read aloud. Cindy Silver LeClaire says while coping with the loss of her brother hasn?t gotten easier in five years, she doesn?t want to forget the impact of the attacks. Silvia Ruhalter also attended, but says she hasn?t visited Ground Zero. Ruhalter expressed regret that she had to bury her son.
In addition to the memorial ceremony, the university plans to build a memorial to the Long Islanders who perished in the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.
