The split among Republicans for an Islip town supervisor candidate is giving Democrats hope for the November election. Results of the GOP primary were still too close to call Wednesday. Town Board member Pamela Greene holds a slim 195-vote lead over Suffolk Legislator Thomas Barraga. Political analysts say the real winner of the primary race may be the town?s Democrats. They say since the GOP party is divided, it could open the door for Democrats in the November election. Greene says she won't declare victory until the vote is finalized. Barraga says he won't concede until the 248 absentee ballots are counted. The recount is expected to take several days. Related Information:
