Nassau police are increasing patrols in upscale neighborhoods after 27 burglaries since the end of August.
Police say incidents have occurred in Albertson, Roslyn Heights, Manhasset Hills, Herricks and Great Neck. They say the thieves have been striking at night and mostly on the weekends.
Part of the police investigation includes analyzing DNA evidence and the time and location of the burglaries. So far, two arrests in two separate burglaries have been made. They are investigating whether the suspects are linked to other burglaries.
Police are urging homeowners in the communities of the Town of North Hempstead to be extra vigilant and to call 911 if there is anything suspicious in their neighborhood.
