A Westbury family is torn apart by an early morning fire Sunday that claimed the life of a father of three.Neighbors say they were woken by the screams of 27-year-old Camille Adams from her parents? home at 827 Pepperidge Road. Neighbors caught her as she jumped from the second floor window, but her parents were trapped inside. Neighbors say by the time they were able to get through the steel front door using a crowbar, firefighters had arrived.Camille's 67-year-old mother, Sara, was rescued from the first floor. However, fire officials say they were unable to get to Camille's father in the second floor bedroom in time. Seventy-year-old Cornell Adams died at Nassau University Medical Center. Neighbors say Adams will be fondly remembered and missed very much.Sara and Camille Adams are being treated at NUMC for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials say there were no smoke detectors in the house.
