A raccoon was rescued in Mount Sinai after a plastic trap was caught on its paw for days.
According to Strong Island Animal Rescue League, the baited trap snapped down on the raccoon’s paw, causing the open wound to get fly strike.
The rescue says the injury could be deadly if not treated.
A homeowner called the rescuers to help get the animal contained.
