A man is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a building in Nassau County just after midnight on Thursday morning.

The Port Washington Fire Department was dispatched to the collision at 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of Shore Road and Manhasset Avenue.

Matthew Meyran, 66, of Port Washington, was operating a grey 2019 Mercedes-Benz when he left the roadway and crashed into a building, causing extensive damage, according to Nassau police.

Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Saccoccia was first on scene and found the SUV had gone through the window of Black Tie Wine & Spirits.

Meyran, who had self-extricated prior to fire department and police arrival, was arrested for DWI.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there were no injuries reported, police say.

An entire window on the side of the structure was shattered and damage could be seen inside of the business.

The Village Building Inspector responded to ensure there were no additional hazards.

Meyran will be charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with BAC of more than 1% when he is arraigned on Thursday.
