A Putnam County anesthesiologist has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman.
Paul Giacopelli, 60, of Southeast, was sentenced in Putnam County Court on Wednesday, according to the district attorney's office.
Giacopelli, who was formerly employed by Northwell Health, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse and assault. He was also sentenced to post-release supervision and must register as a sex offender once he is released from prison.
The victim, who worked for Giacopelli, reported that she was given anesthesia without her knowledge and was subsequently sexually assaulted. The incident occurred in December 2023.
