PUMP PATROL: Average price for gas on Long Island jumps to $4.43

The price for a gallon of regular gas on Long Island is up almost 60 cents in the last week.

President Joe Biden says he'll do what he can to keep gas prices down, but just how high will they go?
“It may easily go up to $5 or $5.50 before this is over, and then eventually the slowdown with the economy, more supply will come in and the prices will go down maybe in 6 to 9 months,” says Hofstra Economics Professor Robert Guttman.
According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular sits at $4.25, up another 8 cents from Tuesday.
The average price in New York is always a little higher than the national average, today it is at $4.43 a gallon.
On Long Island, the average price also stands at $4.43 - which is up almost 60 cents in the last week.
