PSEG Long Island is keeping a close eye on this weekend's impending storm and is making last-minute preparations.
Crews were seen trimming trees in Great Neck to try and cut down on the chances of tree limbs falling on power lines.
The utility says it is checking transmission and distribution equipment, making sure it has enough supplies.
In the event of an emergency or loss of power, customers can sign up for PSEG's text message service called MyAlerts. It allows customers to report downed wires and outages and receive updates.
You can register by texting "REG" to "PSEGLI," or 773454.
The utility also recommends saving its electric service number, also used to report an outage or other electrical emergency. That number is 1-800-490-0075.
