PSEG Long Island and the Long Island Power Authority have reached a new four-year contract.
The announcement comes as PSEG Long Island faces criticism for its failures during Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020.
LIPA says the new deal increases oversight over PSEG Long Island and puts pressure on the utility to meet expectations.
“Today’s announcement includes all of the reforms LIPA demanded after Tropical Storm Isaias to increase oversight and accountability and put our customers’ interests at the forefront of PSEG Long Island’s operations,” says LIPA Chief Executive Officer Tom Falcone. “This contract is the strongest in LIPA’s history and represents a real win for LIPA’s customers.”
