PSEG Long Island said before Thursday's major snowstorm that it was prepared for outages.
Jeffrey Weir, a spokesperson for PSEG Long Island, spoke with News 12 by phone Thursday night to give an update on outages.
The utility urged anyone with a downed power line to not go near it, and call PSEG at 1-800-490-0075.
To report a power outage, text the word OUT to PSEGLI -- that's 773454. Registration for this service is required.
