Police arrested a group home worker Tuesday for allegedly hitting a disabled patient in East Meadow.
State prosecutors say Marie Calvaire, a 62-year-old from Queens Village, repeatedly hit a patient over the head with a book at EPIC Long Island in November 2015.
Calvaire pleaded not guilty to a slew of charges, including second-degree attempted assault and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.
EPIC's patients have a range of disabilities spanning epilepsy, physical and mental challenges.
The company did not immediately respond to a News 12 request for comment on the government's allegations.
