A 20-gallon propane tank that spilled in the middle of the Long Island Expressway caused major delays Thursday.
The spill occurred just before 11 a.m. on the westbound side of the LIE between exits 49 and 48 in Melville. The road closures backed traffic up for about 10 miles.
Click here for Chopper 12 footage of LIE traffic backup. All lanes have since reopened. Police currently are not sure where the tank came from.
