A teacher who started her career in the Bronx is changing lives around the world with her Dunn Learning Style theory.
Dr. Rita Dunn developed the style with her husband. The world-renowned St. John's University professor says the theory is based on educating teachers and parents on how to teach children using individualized methods.
Dunn also encourages parents take time out to speak with their children about which environments they feel most comfortable reading and studying in.
Former students agree, Dunn's method works. "Dr. Dunn has actually changed my life," said Karen Russo. "[She changed] me. Her influence is broader than maybe even she knows."
The professor has won numerous awards for the Dunn Learning Style and her books. She says her greatest wish is for every child to learn to the best of their abilities
