Stony Brook University Professor Dr. Christopher Gobler says if carbon dioxide emissions continue to increase, sea levels could rise more than 6 feet on Long Island. 

"Rising sea levels, more intense storms are all part of what we expect in the future with intensifying climate change," says Dr. Gobler. 

His comments come in the wake of reports that President Donald Trump is leaning toward pulling out of the Paris Climate Accord, which was signed by 200 countries in an effort to curtail carbon dioxide emissions. 

Dr. Gobler says the Trump administration should "look at the scientific facts" before making a decision. 

"Look at the environmental consequences and think carefully about the actions you want to take," he says. 

Stony Brook University has an entire school devoted to studying climate change.
