National Grid says customers may see an increase of nearly 10% on their bill for February, about a $32 bump up from January.

The natural gas provider says the increase is due to the record usage and high commodity costs to warm your home.

National Grid declined to talk on camera. Off camera, the utility company says its offers energy assistance programs and payment plans to help manage winter heating costs.

The New York State Public Service Commission sent News 12 a statement regarding the higher costs of utility bills, saying: "…the department is closely monitoring any impacts on consumers, which is why they should be aware of New York's Energy Affordability Program (EAP), which provides financial relief to eligible New York households."

PSEG Long Island declined to say if its customers should expect to see a spike in their electric bills.

News 12 also reached out to LIPA asking about rates jumping up after the cold snap and has not heard back.
