It has been a busy 24 hours in Washington.
President Donald Trump is laying out some harsh details of his foreign policy.
Monday the president paused all aid to Ukraine following his fiery confrontation with President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House.
New 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico went into effect at midnight. In addition, a 10% percent tariff on China was doubled to 20%. China has now announced it will impose extra tariffs of up to 15% on imports of key U.S. farm products, including chicken, pork, soy and beef. The new additional tariffs are due to take effect on Monday.
"Price stability does not just begin and end with tariff policy. It begins with federal spending. You get federal spending under control. You're not pumping and priming a pump of many dollars going into our economic system. That's how you get inflation under control," said Republican Congressman Byron Donalds from Florida.
President Trump is set to address a joint session of Congress Tuesday night as he speaks about his first weeks in office.
Several Democrats, including Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy have said they plan to boycott the speech in protest of the president's policies.
