President Obama commutes former Freeport resident's life sentence

Before leaving the White House for vacation, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 95 federal drug offenders. One of the 95 is former Freeport resident Ramona Brant, according to Newsday.

Before leaving the White House for vacation, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 95 federal drug offenders.
One of the 95 is former Freeport resident Ramona Brant, according to Newsday.
The 52-year-old was convicted of drug conspiracy in 1995. Because of mandatory sentencing guidelines, she was sentenced to life behind bars.
Brant will be released from a Brooklyn jail in April after serving 20 years.
